Haha great funny review man. I really enjoyed Expendables 2 (not quite as much as you though) and it was much better then the first!

As you said, the cast is just awesome…

At least Borat and Bruno had an intellectual point behind the outrageousness. Drinking urine or pooping from a high wire shows a dumbing down of his humor. Yup it was a big disappointment.

We’re in agreement a lot concerning this flick. I think the only difference was that I didn’t find the movie offensive at all, just horribly boring. I can see HOW (and why) people would be offended by it, but I was just bored to tears, and didn’t really give a fuck, you know?

What can i say? I fully agree with Polly and yourself. This movie was a waste of my time where it could have been better spent looking for the lyrics of The Powerpuff Girls. This movie had such great potential but Yakin obviously didnt invest enough of his time or resources while writing and directing this lack of a better word, shitpiece. My only consolation was that i was able to spend those hours with 4 other friends to make it bearable.

I enjoyed the movie only in scenes when it had Jason Statham in it. His face and body! Never really saw any good martial arts scene, considering one of his many story lines was that he was a cage fighter. Maybe they don’t use martial arts in cage fights – I’ve never seen one.

Not sure about his accent in this though – please Stath, don’t go American on us. Arnold S. never lost his Austrian accent, he would have sounded silly otherwise. And nobody faulted him for it. Statham sounds more authentic using his usual charming Brit accent . He did his best for the thin script he was handed. Yakin’s strength doesn’t appear to be in directing actors, sort of like George Lucas – wooden performances, especially by the young girl. Who is she anyway? One of the many investor’s daughters or nieces? So she can read lines, but she lacks instinct. And there are plenty of really good young actresses much younger than her, so it’s not her age. Anyway, I’ll see anything Jason Statham is in as he’s more exciting than anything else going on in movies these days.

I really enjoyed this review. You hit the nail on the head with the descriptive words…”one dimensional…and “paper thin”. There was virtually no sentiment between the young girl and Statham. No time was spent in developing any real dynamic of sorts between them.
This was a missed opportunity for Statham, whom I feel bad for. He deserves better.
Yakin should invest his time in writing and directing training videos of how not to write and direct.

Thanks for reading and commenting! Despite my low expectations and lack of love for the MARVEL universe, I can safely say, oohh yess, it’s definitely worth seeing. It’s nice seeing a film that’s willing to have this much fun! Thanks again
